River Falls, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – The No. 5 ranked UW-River Falls men's basketball team, led by
Alex Herink's 16 points, tied a program record for consecutive wins (15) with a 70-58 home win over UW-Stout on Wednesday night.

WHAT HAPPENED
- In the first half the Falcons led by just one point, but by shooting 55.6 percent in the second half, the Falcons outscored the Blue Devils by 11 points.
- The Blue Devils took an early lead over the Falcons scoring eight of the first 10 points of the game.
- UW-Stout held off the Falcons for the first eight minutes of the game, leading by six points.
- UWRF would go on to hit four straight three pointers without a miss, the last two coming from senior Garret Pearson to give the Falcons a four point lead.
- The Blue Devils roared back with an 8-0 run to take back the lead 24-20.
- UWRF continued to drift out to the three point line late in the first half, the final six field goals made by the Falcons were three pointers, with the final one coming on a wild shot by Herink to give the Falcons a one point halftime lead.
- The Falcons would separate themselves with seven straight points early in the second dhalf to take a 37-30 lead with 16:32 to go.
- A layup by Grant Erickson at 11:01 would cap off an 11-2 run for the host Falcons. The Falcons had grew their lead to their largest of the game.
- The lead grew to as much as 15 points in the second half, and the Falcons were able to hit their free throws late in the game and hold off the pesky Blue Devils.
IN-DEPTH LOOK
- Herink finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds, his second straight double-double. He also registered two blocks.
- Four Falcons finished in double-figures. Erickson, Pearson, and Devin Buckley each finished with 10 points. Pearson added six rebounds, with Erickson adding four assists and four steals.
- Chris Laymon had a solid effort off the bench. His seven points led all Falcon bench players.
- As a team, UWRF shot 25-61 (41 percent) from the floor. Nine three pointers helped the Falcons hold off the Blue Devils throughout the game.
- The Falcons held the rebound advantage having 42 to Stout's 35. 14 came offensively for the Falcons.
- In the first half, the Falcons committed just three fouls, and the Blue Devils did not attempt a free throw.
THE OPPOSITION
- John Keefe led the Blue Devils with a total of 14 points, seven rebounds, and three assists.
- John Lahti added 14 points of his own on 7-12 shooting, as well as eight rebounds.
- From the floor the Blue Devils shot 21-56 (37.5 percent), but only 9-30 (30 percent) in the second half.
LOOKING AHEAD
In order to obtain the program record winning streak, UW-River Falls will have to take down UW-Stevens Point (9-8, 3-4 WIAC) on the road on January 28
th at 7 p.m. The Falcons defeated the Pointers earlier this season 69-68 in a thriller game at Karges Center.
