Moorehead, MN - (uwrfsports.com) The men's hockey team traveled to Moorehead, MN to take on the Cobbers of Concordia College Saturday afternoon.
Hunter Schneider scored his third goal of the season
for the Falcons, but it was not enough as the Falcons fell 2-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons came out flying in the first period, sustaining pressure in the early part of the period leading to an early power play.
- Concordia's Bryan Kronberger was called for roughing at the 3:34 mark of the first period. The Falcons would get some shots at the net on the power play but could break the scoreless tie.
- At the 13:28 mark of the 1st period Hunter Schneider found the back of the net to put the Falcons up 1-0. The goal was Schneider's 3rd of the season, and he was assisted on the goal by Danny Hamburg and Eddie Matsushima.
- The Cobbers would answer less than a minute later at the 15:17 mark when Mario Bianchi scored for the Cobbers to tie the game at 1.
- The Cobbers would strike again late in the first period at the 17:40 mark, whe Mario Bianchi scored his second goal of the game to put the Cobbers ahed 2-1.
- The Falcons out shot the Cobbers 13-10 in the first period.
- The second period began just like the first with the Falcons sustaining pressure and generating good scoring chances in the Concordia end, but the Falcons could not tie the game at 2.
- At the 15:28 mark Zach Doerring was called for slashing and the Falcons went on the power play. The Falcons could not score with the man advantage and the second period ended with the Cobbers still leading 2-1.
- The Falcons would draw two early penalties on the Cobbers in the third period, but were unable to capitalize on either and still trailed by a goal.
- Mitch Kontny would be called for tripping at the 12:53 mark of the period sending the Cobbers to a power play. The Falcons would kill the power play off to stay within a goal.
- The Falcon penalty killers would be challenged again at the 16:11 mark of the third period when Ryan Gotelaere was called for cross checking. Zach Quinn was strong in net keeping the Falcons within 1.
- The Falcons pulled their goalie late for the extra attacker and generated numerous shots at the Cobber goal including one by Michael Lant that hit the post. But the Falcons were unable to tie the game, and fell to the Cobbers 2-1.
- Zach Quinn made 18 saves for the Falcons in net.
- Hunter Schneider scored the only goal for the Falcons on the night.
- The Falcons out shot the Cobbers 39 to 20 and won 38 of the 50 faceoffs on the evening.
THE OPPOSITION
- Mario Bianchi led the way for the Cobbers scoring their two goals.
- Jacob Stephan was strong in net stopping 38 of 39 shots.

- The Falcons return to Hunt Arena next Friday and Saturday to take on two MIAC opponents. Bethel at 7pm on Friday Jan. 13th. and Gustavus Adolphus on Saturday Jan. 14th at 7pm.
