RIVER FALLS, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – The UW-River Falls men's basketball team opened up the 2017-18 season with an impressive 85-73 win over Central College at home in the newly built Page Arena.

WHAT HAPPENED
- Matt Keller started the game with a 3-point shot and the Falcons never looked back maintaining their lead from start to finish.
- The Falcons would go on a five point run in the first half before the Dutch would get their first points on the board.
- With 11:43 remaining in the first half, the Falcons would begin their dominating lead with a 3-point shot from Logan Halverson. Clay Seifert would come up with a steal to take back the ball and Devin Buckley would finish it off with a layup to put the Falcons up by nine.
- The Falcons would have back to back threes and a jumper to get their biggest lead of the first half.
- Alex Herink would finish out the half with a three pointer that would take the Falcons into the halftime break with a 45-34 lead over the Dutch.
- In the first half, the Falcons were led by Brennan Witt with nine points on 4-7 shooting from the floor and Alex Herink who had nine points and was 3-3 from the floor and was 1-1 beyond the arc. Matt Keller would add eight points in the first half.
- The Dutch came out in the second half ready to shoot scoring on a three-pointer 37 seconds in.
- With 14:30 remaining the Falcons went on an eight point run to give the Falcons a 16 point lead.
- In the final ten minutes of the game, the Falcons sank 11 shots for 18 points to secure the 12 point lead to win the game.
- Clay Seifert led the team in points for the second half with eight. He was 3-9 from the floor and was 2-2 from the line. Matt Keller had seven points and Brennan Witt, Devin Buckley, and Julian Jackson each had six points.

- Matt Keller and Brennan Witt led the Falcons with 15 points each.
- Witt was 7-11 from the floor and had a double double night also getting 11 total rebounds.
- Matt Keller was 5-10 from the floor and was 3-6 from the arc.
- Clay Seifert had eleven points and was 4-11. He led the team with four assists.
- Devin Buckley and Alex Herink each had ten points.
- Austin Heidecker scored 10 points for UWRF off the bench on 3-6 shooting.

THE OPPOSITION
- The Dutch's leading scorer was Kyle Smith. He had 29 total points and was 12-23 from the floor. He had a team high eight total rebounds.
- Malik Wildermuth scored 13 point. He shot 4-14 from the floor and was 3-9 from the three point line.
- Nick Drucker was the only other Dutch player to get double digit points scoring 20. He was 3-6 from the floor and was 2-4 from the arc.
- The Dutch shot 25-64 (39.1 percent) from the floor and 13-35 (37.1 percent) from the three point line.

The Falcons will travel the Wheaton, Ill. To compete in the Wheaton College Classic. The first game of the tournament will be Friday.
