HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST FINLANDIA
  • Finlandia controlled the play for stretches in the first period, but the UW-River Falls Falcons had the better scoring chances.  Finlandia goalie Marcus Gloss came up with 11 saves to keep the score tied at 0-0.
  • The Falcons would get on the board first in the second period, as Mitchell Vanderburg skated in off the wing, and his shot caught the far post for a 1-0 lead at the 2:08 mark.
  • UW-River Falls would make it 2-0 later as Cayden Cahill would get behind the Finlandia defense, but Marcus Gloss would come out and poke the puck away.  Gloss didn't get it far enough away, and Tim Gelatt would knock home the loose puck into a wide open net.
  • Zach Quinn made 20 saves through 2 periods.
  • Just 51 seconds into the third period Ryan Gotelaere just threw the puck on net, but Gloss was screened perfectly, and it landed in the net for his first goal of the season and 3-0 lead.
  • UW-River Falls would make it 4-0 as Max Doner's centering pass was redirected by Peter Karavos for a 4-0 lead.  The goal was Karavos's first of the season.
  • Just 6 seconds later, Mitchell Vanderburg would take a pass from Thomas Clayton and backhand it on net for his 2nd goal of the game and season.
  • Finlandia would avoid the shut-out as Alex Rezansoff would score on the Power Play at 12:10 to make the score 5-1.
  • Peter Karavos would score his 2nd goal of the game, as he deflected a point shot from Christian Hausin that beat Gloss.
