HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons made their first break of the game on the opening kickoff when Kyle Semann forced a fumble with a huge hit on the Stevens Point returner at the Pointer 35 yard line and Ross Wusterbarth recovered for the Falcons. The Falcon sideline was assessed an unsportsmanlike penalty for excessive celebration on the play and started their drive on the River Falls 47.
- The Falcon offense would move the ball down to the UW-Stevens Point 20 yard line before turning the ball over on downs.
- The Falcon defense took over for the rest of the 1st quarter as the two teams exchanged punts. Max Praschak and Rakeem Felder sacked the Pointer quarterback on consecutive plays to give the Falcons the ball back late in the first quarter.
- The Falcons took over at their own 41 where Janari Glover took the handoff and raced around the end for a gain of 26 yards to get the Falcon offense to the Pointer 33. Michael Diggins carried the ball the next 5 plays before being stopped on 3rd and 1 at the Pointer 14. Dylan Swerig attempted a 35 yard field goal from the Pointer 18, but missed wide right.
- The Falcon defense stood tall once again forcing a Pointer three and out, with Max Praschak recording another sack on third down to force the Pointers to punt.
- The two teams exchanged punts once again, but Kyle Narges got the Falcons great field position when the Pointer punt deflected off a Point players' helmet and landed right in Narges' hands who raced 57 yards up the middle of the field to the Pointer 32.
- The Falcon offense went to work with Ben Beckman connecting with Nick Studer for 20 yards down to the Pointer 14 and then to Michael Diggins down to the Pointer 3 yard line. Diggins would take in from there and Dylan Swerig would add the extra point to give the Falcons the 7-0 half time lead.
- The Falcons would open the second half on a 10 play 78 yard drive but could not score as Diggins fumbled going in to the end zone resulting in a touch back for the Pointers.
- The Falcon defense would again force the Pointers to punt after 5 plays.
- The Falcons took over at their own 16 yard line after the punt. On the first offensive play Ben Beckman found Trenton Monson for a 72 yard gain down to the Stevens Point 12 yard line.
- Michael Diggins would carry the ball 4 straight times to find the end zone to put the Falcons up 14-0. The drive covered 84 yards in 5 plays.
- The Falcon defense would step up again on the next Pointer possession. After a Geno DeMike sack on second down Kyle Narges picked off a Pointer pass and raced 45 yards into the end zone only to have his touch down called back by a penalty after the play.
- The Falcons took over at the Pointer 30 yard line carried 3 times including a 21 yard touchdown run to put the Falcons up 21-0.
- The Pointers would score two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to get within 7. The Falcons got the ball back with 5:49 left in the game at their own 20 yard line where Michael Diggins and his offensive line took over. The Falcons ran 12 consecutive run plays with Michael Diggins ripping off runs of 22, 25, and 17 to get the ball down to the Pointer 6 before the Falcons took 2 knees to end the game with a 21-14 victory.
