HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST LAWRENCE
  • The first period was fast paced with end-to-end action, but neither team was able to crack the scoreboard.
  • Both goalies were sharp on the shots that did come their way.  Zach Quinn made 9 saves for UW-River Falls, while Evan Cline had 7 saves.
  • The Falcons did score a goal as a goal mouth scrum resulted in the puck going in the net, but the goal was disallowed since the referee blew his whistle just before.
  • The 2nd period saw plenty of action as UW-River Falls scored just 20 seconds into the period. Joe Drapluk's shot on goal went off the far pipe and in to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead.  Brian Drapluk and Max Doner were credited with assists on the play.
  • Lawrence University tied the score up at the 5:04 mark when Luke McDiarmid dribbler along the ice went five hole on Zach Quinn.
  • A few minutes' later coincidental penalties were called on both teams, and an additional penalty was called on UW-River Falls giving Lawrence a Power Play.  They capitalized on the opportunity as Zach Briscoe scored for a Vikings 2-1 lead.
  • At the 14:47 mark Lawrence made it 3-1 as Josh Koepplinger scored on a great goalmouth pass from Nick Felan.
  • The Falcons would get one back before the end of the period. A big scrum in front of Evan Cline resulted in the puck coming out to his right, and Thomas Clayton banged it home to cut the lead to 3-2.
  • The 3rd period was all UW-River Falls as they out shot Lawrence 19-1.
  • Half way through the period the Falcons had a 5-3 advantage for 28 seconds, but were unable to capitalize.
  • Lawrence University was called for a penalty with 1:58 to go in the game, and the Falcons pulled Zach Quinn with 1:33 on the clock.  The Falcons were able to get 6 shots off, with 4 on goal, but Evan Cline stopped them all.
