River Falls, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – The UW-River Falls softball team was unable to upset No. 13 UW-Whitewater at Ramer Field as the Falcons were defeated by scores of 8-0 and 11-1, with both games ending in five innings.

WHAT HAPPENED
- The Warhawks jumped out to a quick lead, scoring three runs in the first inning, and the Falcons were unable to get any sustainable offense with just two singles in the game.
- Whitewater scored three runs quickly in the top of the first. Whitewater had three singles in the inning, with runs coming in from a single, a wild pitch, and a sacrifice fly to take the early lead.
- The scoring continued for UW-Whitewater in the top of the third with a two-out RBI single to take a 4-0 lead.
- After a walk, the Warhawks launched a home run t to left center to increase the lead to 7-0.
- Whitewater scored their last run in the top of the fourth via a sacrifice fly to right field.
- The Falcons got two hits in the game in the fourth and the fifth from Aiyana Ledwein and Maddie Studnicka.
- Bella Matthias was the winning pitcher for UW-Whitewater, Payton Speckel was the losing pitcher for UWRF.

WHAT HAPPENED
- UWRF fell behind early again in game two, allowing eight first inning runs to the Warhawks. The Falcons could not put together a comeback, scoring one run in the bottom of the first to fall 11-1 in five innings.
- The eight-run first inning for UW-Whitewater was highlighted by two separate three-RBI home runs. The Warhawks finished with four hits in the inning.
- UWRF scored their first run in the bottom f the first thanks to a lead off double by Lexi Dupee. Dupee would cross home when Ali Krohn singled to center field. Krohn now has 15 RBIs.
- Whitewater added three runs in the top of the second inning. It was led off with a home run to right field. UW-Whitewater added two runs with an RBI groundout and a single to lead 11-1.
- UWRF scattered two more hits in the rest of the game. Speckel would take the loss for UWRF.
LOOKING AHEAD
UW-River Falls will host a doubleheader with UW-Oshkosh (25-9, 5-5 WIAC) on Senior Day on April 29, with the first pitch set for 2 p.m. The Falcons will honor their lone senior,
Ali Murray during the doubleheader.
