RIVER FALLS, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – The No. 3 UW-River Falls men's basketball team struggled offensively in their WIAC opener against UW-Stevens Point Wednesday evening falling 48-73 in the contest.

WHAT HAPPENED
- The Falcons started out the game strong with a 15-2 run before the Pointers hit back to back three pointers to start a 20-7 run that would tie the game up 22-22 at 6:31 remaining in the half.
- The Pointers continued with a 17-4 run to finish out the half and give themselves a 13 point lead going into the halftime break.
- The second half was controlled by the Pointer offense as they shot 61.1 percent from the floor.
- Both teams traded points to start the second half but the Pointers went up 22 points at the halfway point.
- The Pointers finished the game with a 12-5 run to secure their 25 point win.
IN-DEPTH LOOK
- Alex Herink led the Falcon offense with 13 points on 3-7 shooting. He was 6-7 from the line and added six rebounds and a steal.
- Matt Keller was the second highest scorer for the Falcons scoring 11 points on 4-8 shooting.
- Clay Seifert was the only other Falcon to be in double digit points scoring 10 on 3-5 shooting.
- The Falcons shot 15-43 (34.9 percent) from the floor. UWRF nailed four shots from beyond the three point arc and were 14-21 from the free throw line (66.7 percent).
THE OPPOSITION
- The Pointers had four players in double-figures. Mark Nelson was the leading scorer of the night with 18 points on 6-8 shooting. He was 4-4 from beyond the arc and 2-2 from the line. He added two rebounds and a steal.
- Nate Dodge was 5-7 from the floor and 2-3 from beyond the arc to score twelve points.
- Canon O'Heron and Koko Songolo each had ten points. O'Heron was 3-7 and 4-5 from the line. Songolo came off the bench going 3-3 from the floor and 4-4 from the charity stripe. He added three steals.
- From the floor the Pointers shot 25-49 (51.0 percent) and connected on nine of their 18 attempts from beyond the arc. From the free throw line, Point shot 14-17 (82.4 percent). They scored 26 points on turnovers.
