RIVER FALLS, Wis. (uwrfsport.com) – The Falcon men's hockey team traveled to the Upper Peninsula and secured the win over the Lions of Finlandia University 4 to 1.

THE RECAP
First Period

• The Falcons capitalized on their first power play opportunity at 05:09 in the period following a Lion's five minute major penalty for cross-checking. Scoring the goal for the Falcons was Eddie Matsushima his 10^th goal of the season. He was assisted by Christian Hausinger, his 3^rd of the season.
• At 12:22, Tim Gelatt was served with a two minute penalty for roughing. The Falcons successfully managed their minutes down a man unscathed.
• At the end of the first period, the Falcons lead 1-0. The Falcons outshot the Lions 7-6.

 
Second Period

• The Falcons would score again at 03:44 with a shot by Brandon Bissett, his first of the season, with assists by C.J. Smith and Jessie Browns.  
• Brandon Bissett found the back of the net for the second time at 06:55 with the help of Jessie Browns and Christian Hausinger.
• The remainder of the period would consist of several penalties with each team committing three. In the down time spent, neither team would capitalize on the power play opportunities.  
• At 07:24 the Lions would serve a two minute minor for hooking.
• Falcons would counter with a five minute major for elbowing at 08:22, serving the five would be Christian Hausinger.
• At 18:53 a pair of penalties would be served to both the Lions and the Falcons for hitting after the whistle.

• The Falcons found themselves back in the penalty box at 04:12 with a two minute minor for cross-checking.  The Lions would take advantage of the power play scoring at 05:58. Dylan Paavola would find the back of the net with assist from Cory Richardson.
• At 08:44 Falcon's Eddie Matsushima would strike again for his second goal of the evening. He was assisted by Tom Reilly. Finlandia would also serve a two minute penalty for hooking at the time of the goal.
• UW-River Fall's Tim Gelatt would sit for two for cross-checking at 09:46.
• At 15:57 both teams would be a man short after a slashing penalty was called for Dayton Honkanon of River Falls and Cade Warner of Finlandia.
• The Falcons ended the third period with 9 shots on goal for a game total of 25. Finlandia would finish the third with 7 shots on goal for a game total of 29.
