Men's Hockey Ties St. Johns

ST. CLOUD, Minn.  (uwrfsports.com) – Josh Arnold scored two goals in the third period for the UW-River Falls men's hockey team as they tied St. Johns University 2-2 in overtime Friday evening. 
 
THE RUNDOWN

What Happened:
  • It took until the second period for either team to score.  The Johnnies got on the board first scoring at 12:49.  Evan Okeley scored on a pass from Matt Colford and Jake Dittel. 
  • The Johnnies scored again at 16:49 when Tanner Dufault was able to put one on goal.  He was assisted on the goal by Matt Colford and Ryan Kero. 
  • The Falcons trailed 0-2 going into the third period even through they were outshooting the Johnnies 19-14. 
  • The tides changed in the third period when Josh Arnold scored a power play goal 35 seconds into the period.  He was assisted by Charlie Singerhouse and Eddie Matsushima
  • Three minutes later Arnold scored the game tying goal.  The goal was an unassisted short hand goal.  The Falcons were down a player on the ice after Eddie Matsushima was called for hooking. 
  • The Falcons applied the offensive pressure the remainder of the period.  They had two power play opportunities and had 11 shots on goal. 
  • At the end of three periods, the score remained 2-2. 
  • In overtime, the Falcons outshot the Johnnies 4-0 but were unable to find the back of the net. 
  • The Falcons had seven power play opportunities on the night.  They were able to capitalize on one in the third period.  The Johnnies had only one chance but it was the Falcons who scored on it.
  • The Falcons had 40 shots on goal.  Josh Arnold led the team with two goals and seven shots on goal. 
  • Zach Quinn got the tie.  He had 16 saves and gave up two goals. 

 THE OPPOSITION
  • Ryan Kero led the Johnnies offensively with an assist and three shots on goal. 
  • Andrew Lindgren finished with 38 saves and two goals.
 
LOOKING AHEAD
 The Falcons travel to Augsburg Saturday night to take on the Auggies.  The puck drops at 7 p.m.
