RIVER FALLS, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – The UW-River Falls men's hockey team faced off against the 7
th ranked UW-Eau Claire Blugolds Saturday night at Hunt Arena. The two teams battled to a 2-2 tie in overtime.
It would take till the second period for either team to score.
Brandon Bissett got the Falcons on the board first scoring at 6:53. Assisting on the play was
Ryan Gotelaere and
Mike Sauer. Before the Falcons could finish celebrating, the Blugolds tied it up 28 seconds later.
The Blugolds took the lead at 7:03 in the third period when Tyler Tomberlin found the back of the net.
With less than two minutes on the clock in regulation and down a goal, the Falcons pulled their goaltender for an extra attacker. It paid off when
Cayden Cahill shot one in for a goal. He was assisted on the play by
Christian Hausinger and
Eddie Matsushima.
Neither team as able to get a goal in the overtime period ending the game in a tie.
Zach Quinn recorded his third tie of the year. He had a season 38 saves.
The Falcons now 4-3-3 on the season travel to Appleton, Wis., to take on Lawrence University December 7-8. First game will be Friday night with puck drop happening at 7 p.m.
