RIVER FALLS, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – The Falcon men's hockey team suffered a tough nonconference loss at home Saturday afternoon at Hunt Arena.
The Raiders scored two goals in the first period. The first came at 5:44 by Nick Redmon. Redmon scored again at 11:46 and the Raiders had a 2-0 lead heading into the first period break.
Cayden Cahill shot one into the back of the net at 9:33 in the second period to cut the Raiders lead in half. Cahill was assisted on the play by
Eddie Matsushima and
Christian Hausinger. The Falcons were awarded a five-minute power play opportunity after the raiders were called for a five-minute major. Unfortunately, the Falcons were unable to capitalize.
In the third period, the Raiders scored first extending their lead to 3-1 at 8:45 when Michael Romund shot one in.
Charlie Singerhouse answered back almost instantly scoring his first goal of the night five six seconds later. He was assisted by
Josh Arnold.
The Raiders scored their fourth goal of the afternoon on an open net after the Falcons had pulled their goalie for the extra attacker on the ice.
Offensively, the Falcons outshot the Raiders 37-14. Raider goalie Rock Boynton had 35 saves and gave up two goals.
Joe Marcouiller gave up one goal and had four saves.
The Falcons are off for a few weeks for the Holiday break but will return to action on January 4vto take on the Tommies of the University of St. Thomas. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in St. Paul.
