Box Score

RIVER FALLS, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) - The Falcons scored over 25 points each in the second and third quarters to cruise to a 87-80 win over Emmaus Bible College in Dubuque, Iowa on Saturday. Freshman Jenna Zeman had a career-high 21 points on 7-10 shooting, including knocking down five shots from beyond the arc. UW-River Falls stretched their lead to as much as 23 points in the fourth quarter before settling for an seven-point win.

The Falcons trailed 18-17 after the first quarter due to only shooting 4-18 from the field. They stepped up their play in the second quarter by sparking a 14-3 run, and they were led by seven points from Brianna Koop in the quarter to take a 12-point lead into halftime. Brianna Leahy and Lori Wardynski each added five points off the bench to help the Falcons double the Eagles' score in the second quarter. UWRF outscored Emmaus's bench 33-11 on the night.

Emmaus started the second half on an 8-2 run that prompted a timeout from UWRF, but three-pointers from Zeman and Tessa Hubbard stretched the lead back to double digits. The Falcons knocked down a season-high 13 three-pointers and shot an impressive 50 percent from beyond the arc. A 15-point lead after three quarters was followed by a difficult end to the game where the Falcons committed nine of their 21 turnovers in the final quarter. However, strong performances from a variety of sources was enough to help UWRF improve to 5-5 on the season.

Hubbard had a career-high 10 points and knocked down three shots from beyond the arc, while Leahy continued her freshman campaign with 12 points and nine rebounds. She also blocked three shots for the fourth time this season, and she sits in the top 50 in Division III in blocks per game. Madelyn O'Brien also had a career-high eight rebounds, including six offensive rebounds.

UWRF will next be in action when they take on Adrian College in Michigan on Dec. 29. The game will tip off at 1 p.m.
