Menomonie, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – The UW-River Falls softball team continued their conference play on Tuesday afternoon when they traveled to Menomonie, Wis. to take on UW-Stout.
Maddie Studnicka pitched very well in relief for the Falcons in both games, giving up just 1 run and two hits in 6 and 2/3rd innings, but it wasn't enough as the Falcons dropped both games of the doubleheader to UW-Stout.
THE RUNDOWN GAME 1 vs UW-STOUT

WHAT HAPPENED IN GAME 1
- The Falcons got out to a quick start with back to back singles to start the game by Aiyana Ledwein and Molly Kaspar, but left the bases loaded in their half of the 1st inning. The Blue devils jumped out to a 1-0 lead in their half of the first by stringing together a couple singles, followed by a sac. fly to get the run across.
- After a quick second inning, the Blue Devils used 5 singles, and a walk to score four runs in the inning, giving them a 5-0 lead.
- Kaia Dorn doubled for the Falcons to lead off the 6th inning. Jordan Sabelko stepped in two batters later and drove in Dorn with an RBI single to put the Falcons on the board.
- The Falcons could not get any closer and fell in game 1 by a score of 5-1.
- Maddie Studnicka pitched well in relief of starter Hannah Stegeman, holding the Blue Devils off the scoreboard and without a hit for the final 3 and 2/3rd innings.

WHAT HAPPENED IN GAME 2
- The Falcons got on the board early in game 2. After a quick first inning, the Falcons pushed across 2 runs in their half of the 2nd inning. Noelle Senour started the inning by reaching on an error. Lexi Dupee singled to move pinch runner, Rachel Renz, who stole second over to third. Amber Galloway followed with an RBI groundout that brought Renz home to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead. Shannan Borchardt followed with an RBI double that brought Dupee in from second and the Falcons were up 2-0.
- The Blue Devils answered in the bottom of the second with 5 runs. The Blue Devils drew 3 walks in the inning and used 3 singles to get their 5 runs across and take a 5-2 lead.
- The Blue Devils used four consecutive singles to add 3 more runs in their half of the third to go up 8-2, and added another run in the bottom of the 5th inning to go up 9-2.
- The Falcons answered in the top of the 6th when Dupee drove in Kaspar with an RBI single to make it 9-3, but that is as close as the Falcons would get as they dropped the second game 9-3.
- Maddie Studnicka pitched well for the second straight game in relief, going 3 innings and just giving up just 1 run, on 2 hits while striking out 3.

The Falcons will continue their conference schedule on Wednesday when they travel to play a doubleheader at UW-Oshkosh. The first pitch for game 1 is set for 2pm.
