RIVER FALLS, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – The UW-River Falls men's hockey team picked up their third win in a row with a nonconference 2-1 win over Bethel University Saturday night.
Neither team was able to score in the first period. The Falcons had four power play opportunities but were unable to capitalize. Each team had nine shots on goal in the first.
Eddie Matsushima broke the scoring silence twenty-one seconds into the second period when he scored an unassisted goal.
Joe Drapluk followed it up with his second goal of the season at 10:51 to give the Falcons a 2-0 lead. He was assisted on the play by
Joel Frazee and
Cayden Cahill. The Royals cut the Falcons lead in half at 16:27 in the second period when they scored their only goal.
The Falcons outshot the Royals 28-19.
Josh Arnold and
Joel Frazee each had four shots on goal.
Joe Marcouiller had 18 saves and gave up one goal in his 59 minutes of play in goal.
The Falcons travel to UW-Eau Claire Wednesday night January 16 to face off against the No. 3 Blugolds in a WIAC matchup. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m.
