RIVER FALLS, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – The UW-River Falls men's hockey team opened the 2019-20 season with an exciting overtime win against Finlandia at home Friday evening. The Falcons pulled off the 3-2 win in the final seconds of the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST FINLANDIA
- Neither team scored in the opening period, but the Falcons had the shot upper hand with 11 compared to the Lion's nine.
- The Falcons came out right away in the second period putting the pressure on. Christian Hausinger scored his first goal of the night at 4:41 to get the Falcons on the board first. He was assisted on the play by Nic Herringer and Aussie Miller.
- The Lions answered back with their own goal tying it up 1-1 in the second period.
- Hausinger scored a second goal in the final minute of the second period giving the Falcons a 2-1 lead heading into the third period. He was assisted on the play by Sam Anzai.
- With less than two minutes on the clock it looked like the Falcons would secure the win but a shot by Connor Hannon tied it up 2-2 forcing the teams to go into overtime.
- Hausinger came through again in the overtime period with a final second goal to give himself a hat trick on the night and a 3-2 overtime Falcon win. His goal came on a pass from Ryan Cusin.
- Zach Quinn got his first win of the season. He had 19 saves on the night.
- Finlandia goaltender Marcus Gloss had 33 saves and gave up three Hausinger goals.
- The Falcons outshot the Lions 36-21.

The two teams will face off again at Hunt Arena Saturday night. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
