RIVER FALLS, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – The UW-River Falls men's hockey team picked up an important night one win in the first round of the WIAC Championships. The Falcons defeated UW-Stout 3-2.
The Blue Devils scored first knocking one in just a minute into the first period.
The Falcons evened it up 1-1 at 4:07 in the second period.
Aussie Miller scored on a pass from
Eddie Matsushima and
Josh Arnold. The goal was on the power play.
Peter Karavos gave the Falcons the lead at 10:01 when he scored a power play goal on a pass from
Cayden Cahill.
In the third period, the Falcons got their third and final goal at 9:08. The goal was a late call decision after some discussion if the goal actually went in. The officials ruled in favor of the Falcons and they took a 3-1 lead.
Stout scored their second goal of the evening at 16:20.
Zach Quinn got the win in goal. He had 32 saves and only gave up two goals.
The two teams face off again Saturday night for advancement to the second round of the WIAC Championships. Puck drop is set for 7:05 pm at Hunt Arena.
