STEVENS POINT, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – The UW-River Falls men's hockey team fell 0-6 Friday night to the No. 1 seed and current No. 1 UW-Stevens Point in the semifinal matchup.
The Pointers scored goals in each of the three periods. They scored two in the first period. One goal came two minutes into the first period. They scored again at 10:20.
In the second period, the Pointers scored two power play goals. The first was an unassisted goal that came at 3:27. The Falcons were down a man after
Blake Anderson was called for roughing. The second power play goal came at 15:34 when
Ryan Gotelaere was called for high sticking.
The Pointers scored their final goal at 17:41 in the third period.
The Falcons were able to put twenty shots on goal.
Ryan Cusin led the offense with five shots.
Zach Quinn and
Joe Marcouiller shared the goaltending duties. They combined for 31 saves and six goals.
The Falcons will seek redemption Saturday night against the Pointers. Puck drop is 7 p.m.
