ROCHESTER, Minn. (uwrfsports.com) – The UW-River Falls softball team started their 2019 season at the Luther College Dome Tournament in Rochester, Minn., this past weekend.  The Falcons went 1-3 on the weekend.
 
THE RUNDOWN GAME 1 vs ST OLAF COLLEGE
Final Score: UW-River Falls 4, St. Olaf College 12

WHAT HAPPENED AGAINST ST OLAF COLLEGE

• The Oles got on the board first scoring in the first inning.  They started the inning with a single to left field and a ground rule double that put a runner on three.  A sacrifice fly would bring the run in.
• The Oles scored two more in the bottom of the second inning.  They led off with a single and sacrificed the runner over on the bunt.  A walk and a single put runners on each base, another sacrifice fly and a throwing error brought two more runs in.  At the end of the second inning, the Oles led 3-0. 
• The Falcons scored four runs in the top of the fourth inning.  Molly Kaspar started it out with a single to center field and then advanced to second on a wild pitch.
• Noelle Senour and Hannah Theobald each walked loading the bases.
• Back to back doubles down the left field line by Lexi Dupee and Sami Thompson drove in four runs giving the Falcons a 4-3 lead after four innings. 
• The Oles took back the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning scoring five on three walks, two hits and an error.
• The Oles scored two more in the bottom of the 6^th inning on two hits and two errors. 
• Payton Speckel took the loss pitching 4.1 innings.  She gave up 6 hits and 6 runs.   

 
THE RUNDOWN GAME 2 vs BETHANY LUTHERAN
Final Score: UW-River Falls 0, Bethany Lutheran 2

WHAT HAPPENED AGAINST BETHANY LUTERHAN

• The Knights scored first in the top of the first inning.  They scored on one hit. 
• The Knights again scored in the top of the 5^th inning.  They started off the inning with a walk. 
• The Falcons left nine runners on base.  Two times they left a runner at third base.
• The Falcons outhit the Knights 5-4 but were unable to more the runners on base.
• Hannah Stegeman pitched all 7 innings for the Falcons, giving up 2 earned runs and striking out 4.

THE RUNDOWN GAME 3 vs KNOX COLLEGE
Final Score: UW-River Falls 13, Knox 5 (5 innings)

WHAT HAPPENED AGAINST KNOX COLLEGE

• Knox struck first scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning.  The Prairie Fire hit back to back doubles to drive in two runs.
• The Falcons tied it up 2-2 in the top of the second two runs on one error.  Lexi Dupee and Kaia Dorn were both walked and Bri Daechsel hit a hard-hit ball to second base that the fielder could not handle, Both Dupee and Dorn scored on the play.
• The Falcons scored five more runs in the top of the third.  Molly Kaspar led off the inning with a double, followed by a bunt single by Hannah Theobald. 
• Doubles by Noelle Senour and Kaia Dorn drove in three runs. 
• Hannah Theobald had an in the park homerun on a hit down the right field line in the top of the 4^th inning. 
• Knox would score two runs in the bottom of the 4^th on two hits and brought the game within four. 
• Dorn started out the 5^th inning with a double.
• Rebecca Daley drove in a run on a single and Kaspar drove in two on a single.  Ali Krohn drove in the final run on a single to shortstop. 
• Corinne Roe got the win for the Falcons, throwing 3.2 innings and allowing 3 earned run while striking out 2.
• Jordan Livingood came in for 1.1 innings striking out two and giving up one run. 

 
THE RUNDOWN GAME 4 vs GUSTAVUS ADOLPHUS COLLEGE
Final Score: UW-River Falls 4, Gustavus Adolphus 6

Records: UWRF 1-3, Gustavus Adolphus 2-3

WHAT HAPPENED AGAINST GUSTAVUS ADOLPHUS COLLEGE

• For the first time all weekend the Falcons struck first scoring in the first inning.  Molly Kaspar scored an unearned run on an error. 
• The Gusties scored three runs in the top of the 3^rd inning on three hits. 
• The Falcons scored again in the bottom of the 4^th inning.  Ali Krohn started out the inning with a single to left field and then Lexi Dupee drove her in with a single to the right side. 
• The Gusties scored two more runs in the top of the 6^th inning taking a 5-2 lead. 
• Hannah Theobald hit a triple to start out the bottom of the 6^th inning and Lexi Dupee brought her in a hit to second base. 
• The Falcons scored a fourth run in the second period after Natalie Bosch and Karina Monson had back to back singles.

The Falcons will travel to Jacksonville, Il., to face Illinois College March 16.  Game time is 1 p.m.
