Softball Takes on Platteville in Eau Claire, Wis.

Eau Claire, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – The UW-River Falls softball pushed up conference play against UW-Platteville, playing in Eau Claire, WI on Friday afternoon.

WHAT HAPPENED IN GAME 1
  • The Falcons got a runner in scoring position in the top of the first inning off a double by Molly Kaspar, followed by a wild pitch, but were unable to capitalize in the inning.
  • In the top of the 2nd, the Falcons did capitalize on 4 hits, scoring 4 runs in the inning.  Tayler Fall started the inning off with a single to centerfield.  Rebecca Daley, Allison Kondzela, and Kaspar also had singles in the inning.  The hits combined with two errors on the Pioneers allowed UWRF to get on the scoreboard first. 
  • Platteville responded in the bottom of the 3rd inning, scoring 2 runs on 4 hits.
  • River Falls added a run in the top of the 4th on three hits, including a double from Kondzela. 
  • The Falcons remained quiet offensively the rest of the game.
  • The Pioneers added a one run on two hits in the bottom of the 5th.  They added 3 more runs on 2 hits in the bottom of the 7th, including a walk-off three run homerun by Martin.
     

    WHAT HAPPENED IN GAME 2
  • The Falcons accumulated 8 hits throughout the game; however, were unable to group them to get on the scoreboard. 
  • The Pioneers scored one run in the bottom of the second and two more in the bottom of the 4th inning.  It was a quiet game offensively for both teams as UWP finished the game with a total of six hits.
