Men's Basketball Beat Whitewater on the Road

RIVER FALLS, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – The UW-River Falls men's basketball team were on the road on Saturday taking on UW-Whitewater.  The Falcons took the win over the Warhawks 75-70.

WHAT HAPPENED
  • The Falcons made 16-29 (55.2 percent) field goals in the first half, including 6-14 from behind the arc.  Jack Stensgard led the Falcons in the first half with 11 points, shooting 4-4 from the floor, including 3-3 from three point.
  • UWRF gathered just one 2nd chance point on the night.
  • The Falcons scored eight points off the bench in the first half, 15 total for the game.
  • UWRF went into half time with a strong lead, 42-28.
  • The Falcons shot 47.6 percent from the field in the second half (10-21), hitting 4-7 from behind the arc.  As a team, they made 9-14 from the free throw line (64.3 percent).
  • Stensgard along with Noah Hanson led the Falcons with nine points each in the second half.
  • River Falls scored 30 points in the paint on the night, 10 coming in the second half.
  • The Falcons scored 19 points off of turnovers in the game off of 14 Warhawk turnovers.
 
IN-DEPTH LOOK
  • Stensgard was the team's high scorer finishing with 19 points off of 6-8 shooting, 4-4 from three point.  He also recorded five assists and six rebounds.
  • Hanson and Matt Keller finished with 14 and 13 points respectively.
  • Overall the Falcons went 26-50 from the floor (52 percent), 10-21 of three-pointers (47.6 percent), and 13-20 from the free throw line (65 percent). 
THE OPPOSITION
  • Equan Ards was the high scorer for UWW finishing with 29, shooting 10-19 from the floor and 7-10 from the free throw line.
