Falcons Fall at Home in WIAC Opener

RIVER FALLS, Wis. (uwrfsports.com) – The UW-River Falls men's basketball team hosted their conference opener against UW-Stevens Point on Saturday.  After a close first half, the Falcons fell to the Pointers 63-86.

WHAT HAPPENED
  • The Falcons made 14-25 (56 percent) field goals in the first half, including 5-12 from behind the arc.  Julian Jackson led the Falcons in the first half with 9 points, hitting 4-4 from the field.
  • UWRF gathered just six 2nd chance points on the night, all coming in the second half, off nine offensive rebounds total.
  • The Falcons scored ten points off the bench in the first half, 17 total for the game.
  • UWRF went into half time down 36-38.
  • The Falcons shot 36.4 percent from the field in the second half (8-22), hitting 1-6 from behind the arc.  As a team, they made 10-15 from the free throw line (66.7 percent).
  • Matt Keller led the Falcons with 12 points in the second half, hitting 4-8 from the field, as well as 4-5 from the free throw line.
  • River Falls scored 22 points in the paint on the night.
  • The Falcons scored just three points off of turnovers in the game off of nine Pointer turnovers.

  • Keller was the team's high scorer finishing with 21 points off of 7-14 shooting and 6-7 from the free throw line.  He also recorded 8 rebounds.
  • Jackson and Ross Ingersoll finished with 12 and 11 points respectively.
