Falcons and Blue Devils clash on Saturday

RIVER FALLS, Wis. - The UW-River Falls football team hits the road for a WIAC matchup this Saturday, Nov. 6 at UW-Stout.

LAST TIME OUT
  • The Falcons improved to 6-2 overall and 3-2 in the WIAC during its final home game of the regular season last Saturday in River Falls, defeating UW-Platteville 31-28 on Senior Day.
  • UWRF compiled 520 yards of total offense with a balanced offensive attack, rushing for 253 and passing for 267, compared to 318 yards of total offense from the Pioneers.
  • The Falcons limited UWP to just four rushing yards and held the visitors to a 4-of-12 conversion rate on third downs. Meanwhile, UWRF was 6-18 on third downs and 5-8 on fourth downs.
  • Kole Hinrichsen, one of 19 Falcon seniors recognized, completed a season-high 29 passes for 258 yards, throwing for one touchdown and rushing in a couple. 
AGAINST THE BLUE DEVILS
  • The Nov. 6, 2021 contest marks the 106th all-time matchup between the Falcons and Blue Devils with UW-River Falls holding a 69-36 series advantage.
  • Most recently, the two teams met in Menomonie on Nov. 2, 2019, with Stout prevailing 30-24.
  • In the last 10 matchups, the Falcons have a 4-6 record against the Blue Devils.
  • The last River Falls' victory over Stout came during the 2018 season, a 21-19 win during UWRF homecoming.
FALCON NOTES
  • For the fifth week this season, UWRF garnered votes in the D3football.com Division III Top 25 poll. The Falcons earned a season-high 10 votes in this week's rankings.
  • The Falcons own the top-scoring offense in the WIAC and 15th-best in NCAA DIII, averaging 43 points per game with 48 total touchdowns.
  • On the ground, UWRF leads the WIAC with 231.5 rushing yards per game, with 25 rushing touchdowns, led by running back Luke Fugate (Sr., Platteville, Wis.) and quarterback Kole Hinrichsen (Sr., Farmington, Minn.).
  • Hinrichsen ranks second in the WIAC and 21st nationally in total offense, averaging 299 yards per game.
  • The Falcons rank atop of the WIAC with a total of 222 first downs, while also leading the league on opponent third down conversions, limiting their opponents to a conversion rate of 30.2 percent.
  • Defensive lineman Ted Androli (Sr., Kenyon, Minn.) leads the WIAC with 12 tackles for loss and second with five sacks.
  • Defensive back Dylan Brown (Fr., Mequon, Wis.) leads the WIAC with nine passes defended (eight breakups, one interception). Aaron Borgerding (Fr., Spring Valley, Wis.) leads the Falcons and ranks second in the league with four interceptions.
  • Wide receiver Andy Groebner (Jr., Andover, Minn.) has recorded three multi-scoring games of the season and is tied for second in the WIAC and is tied for 16th nationally with nine receiving touchdowns.
  • Kicker Cade Henry (So., Yorkville, Ill.) leads the WIAC with 44 made PAT attempts.
