RIVER FALLS, Wisconsin – The UW-River Falls men's basketball team captured a huge 86-67 nonconference win over top of the MIAC standings Augsburg University Thursday night at Page Arena.
The Falcons led start to finish in the matchup only allowing the Auggies to tie it up early in the first half.
The Falcons carried an eleven-point lead heading into the halftime break.
Rodrick Payne and
Noah Hanson each had sixteen points. Hanson was 3-for-6 from beyond the arch and 3-for-3 from the free throw line. Payne's points came from the floor where he was 8-for-12.
Jake Reek opened up the second half with back-to-back three-point shots. The Falcons never looked back and maintained at least a nine-point lead and led by as much as 24 in the half.
Payne was the leading scorer for the night accumulating a career high 26 points and added seven rebounds. He was 12-for-19 from the floor. Hanson finished the night with 24 points after going 5-for-12 from beyond the arch.
Jake Reeck scored 15 points off of five 3-point shots.
Bryce Phillips broke the single season game assist record with 18 total assists.
The Falcons return to action Saturday December 18 as they take on Hamline University. Tipoff is 3 p.m. in St. Paul.
