After a heartbreaking 1-0 loss at home earlier in the week, the Falcons were able to bounce back and snag a 6-2 win over UW-Stevens Point on Friday night.
Adam Canepa started the game with a bang, scoring the first goal of the night at 2:01 in the first period off an assist by Gordan Whalen. It did not take much longer for two more Falcons to light the lamp, with Cayden Cahill and Cory Schillo scoring at the 7:43 and 11:32 marks in the first period, respectively.
The Falcons kept their scoring run going into the second period with the fourth goal of the night being scored by freshman Vilho Saariluoma. The Pointers, however, struck back by scoring their first goal of the night at 18:50 in the second period.
Once the third period began, both teams held their own until the Pointers were able to score again, this one at the 14:37 mark to draw within two. With the game winding down, Saariluoma sniped his second goal of the game off the pass from Christian Hausinger at 18:26, then Canepa solidified the win with his second goal of the game, and sixth for the season, for the Falcons just 55 seconds later.
Freshman Dysen Skinner recorded 24 saves on the night and picked up the first win in his young career.
The Falcons improve to 2-2 on the season. Their next game will be at home vs the Lumber Jacks of Northland College Wednesday, February 17 at 7:05p.m
