Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

Sweep Secured by Women's Hockey

The UW-River Falls Falcons dominated again over the UW-Steven Point Pointers Friday night after a win two days prior, winning the second matchup by final score of 7-1.

During the first period, threes goals were scored and all were by the Falcons. The first goal came from Aubrey Nelvin six minutes into the game, assisted by Hadley Malcolmson and Reilly Springman. One minute later, Erin Olson snapped the net off an assist from Sam Young. The final goal of the period was scored 21 seconds later by Sophia Leong who was assisted by Erin Olson and Chaillis Prohaska.

Starting the second period, 47 seconds in, the fourth goal of the game was scored by Callie Hoff assisted by Alex Hantge. That goal would prove to be the only goal of the period. Despite the offense not finding the net anymore in the stanza, freshman goaltender Pistol Cowden held it down on the other end of the ice, making nine of her 20 overall saves during the period.

Once the third period began, the both defenses continued to hold down the fort. It wasn't until 13:21 that the puck crossed the line, this goal being scored by Hantge, assisted by Alyson Niebur and Abigail Stow. Three minutes later, the Pointers finally found the net to put the score at 5-1. One minute later, the Falcons retaliated with a goal scored by Hoff, and finally, with 57 seconds remaining in the game, the final goal of the night was scored by Young.

With the win, the Falcons are now 4-0 and have outscored their opponents by an astounding 37-2 margin.

The Falcons' next game will take place on Wednesday at UW-Superior with puck drop at 7:05 pm
