Game Recap: Men's Hockey |

Falcons Complete Sweep

Winning 3-1 at home on Wednesday, the UW-River Falls men's hockey team was able to complete the sweep over Northland College, nabbing a 4-2 victory on the road.

The Falcons made their presence known quickly in the game with freshman Vilho Saariluoma scoring at 6:44 off an assist from Tim Gelatt. However, the Lumber Jacks tied the game at 14:53 with a goal from Jackson Breton, sending the game into the second period tied up.

The Falcons next opportunity to light the lamp came short-handed from senior Charlie Singerhouse at 13:21 in the second. Singerhouse was assisted on the play by Logan Severson and Josh Arnold. Then, with under two minutues left in the period,  Cory Schillo punched the puck into the net, with assists going to Sarriluoma and Peter Grytdahl, to round out the second period with a score of 3-1.

Cayden Cahill capitalized on the power-play opportunity scoring at 8:14 in the third with the assist going to Peter Karavos. Northland was able to add a late goal but the lead, and win, was never really in doubt.

The win was the third straight for the Falcons, with Dysen Skinner getting the win in net with 34 saves, his second straight win of the season and second win of his young career.

The Falcons next game will be back home on Wednesday February, 24 when they host the Yellow Jackets of UW-Superior. Puck drop is set for 7:05pm.
