Meeting for the second time in three days, the UW-River Falls men's basketball team hoped to repeat their winning performance from Wednesday against UW-Stout, but no such luck as they fell 81-72
The Falcons got things started with a score by senior Alex Ohde who had 24 points for the game. Noah Hanson also contributed to the offense early on, hitting a three-pointer , one of his four made threes on the day. The Falcons had the lead most of the first half, but a dunk by Blue Devils forward Tyreese Alexander gave UW-Stout a 29-28 lead, a score that would hold until the break.
In the second half, the Falcons were determined to come out strong, but struggled to get things going on offense within the first few minutes of the half. Meanwhile Alexander and the Blue Devils were rolling, pushing the lead to as large as 15. It was not until Ohde and Bryce Phillips both scored that the Falcons started mounting their comeback. Drawing to as close as four points, the team ultimately couldn't make up the deficit and fell 81-72. The loss takes their season record to 1 - 1.
Ohde's 24 points were a game high, while Hanson contributed 16 points of his own. Jack Stensgard scored 13 while Phillips had 10.
The next game for the Falcons will be February 10 at 7 pm against the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse at home in Page Arena.
