Goal Scoring Bonanza for Falcons in First Win of the Season

After a loss on Saturday's season opener, the Falcons were ready to get their first win of the 2021 Spring season and that's exactly what they did, blowing out the Auggies from Augsburg University by a score of 19-6.

Just one minute into the game, Emily Herdine scored the first goal to start things off, and that was just the beginning of what would become a blitzkrieg for the Falcons. 20 seconds later, the second goal of the game was scored by Emma Heerey off an assist by Josie Johnson. From there, the Auggies defense proved to be no match for UW-RF as the Falcons scored 13 goals in the first half. Herdine led the Falcons in the first half scoring four goals, matching her total from the season opener, followed by freshman Emma Heerey and junior Emma Kohlbeck who each ending the first stanza with two goals.

It was Augsburg who scored the first goal in the second half, but soon after, the Falcons came back with four goals of their own in pretty rapid succession, putting the score to 17-3 with 20 minutes remaining in the game. The Falcons flew through the second half, adding another six goals to their score ending the game with a score of 19-6. The Falcons were able to outshoot the Auggies, 38-19 throughout the course of tonight's action.

Herdine led the way for her four goals, followed by Heerey (3), Kohlbeck (3), Gina Jablonski (2), Josie Johnson (2), Cassandra Hubble (2), Grace Hannula (2), and Nicole Swanson (1).

Goaltender Grace Ross had seven saves on the night to earn the win.

The Falcons are now 1-1 on the season and their next game will be their home opener on Saturday, March 27 at 12 PM against the Pirates of Southwestern University.
