Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Lacrosse Winning Streak Extends to Three

Coming off a 14-10 win a day prior, the UW-River Falls women's lacrosse team was able to match that goal output again, defeating the Firebirds of Carthage College 14-9 to bring their record to 3-1 on the season.

Falcons Senior Gina Jablonski proved to be unstoppable on offense, scoring the first four goals of the game for the Falcons in the first half. After falling behind 4-3, Jablonski scored her fourth goal to tie things up, then Josie Johnson found the net, putting the Falcons up, 5-4. The Firebirds, however, came back yet again to tie the game at 5-5, and that's where the score remained heading into halftime.

Starting the second half, the Falcons came out ready to dominate and prove that they were the better team. Thirty seconds into the half, sophomore Emily Herdine scored for UW-RF, setting the tone for the remainder of the game.

Not wanting to miss out on the goal scoring action, Bailey O'Donovan scored 3 goals of her own, putting the Falcons up, 9-6. Carthage tried to charge back a few times but never got closer than three goals, as the Falcons put in 9 goals in the half in route to the 14-9 win.

Jablonski and Herdine led all scorers with 4 each, while O'Donovan added her 3. Johnson finished the day with 2 goals and 3 assists, while Emma Kohlbeck tacked on a goal as well.

Goaltender Ashley Olson had 15 saves this afternoon to pick up the win.

The Falcons will put their 3-game winning streak on the line as they travel to Wartburg College on Wednesday, March 31 for a 5 PM game.
