On yet another nice sunny, spring day, the UW-River Falls Falcons took on the Pointers of UW- Stevens Point for senior day at pristine Faye Perkins Softball Stadium.
Game 1
Game one was quick to start for the Pointers as they put a run on the board in the very first inning. They were only able to add one more through the fourth, but the Falcons offense couldn't get going themselves.
Unfortunately for the Falcons, the fifth inning had everything go the Pointers way as they got on an unstoppable hot streak. When it was all said and done, UW-SP was able to push across eight runs in the inning to bring the final score to 10-0.
Game 2
In game two, both teams held steady defensively early on as the game went into the third inning scoreless.
In the top of the third, the Pointers came back to life, pushing two runs across the plate. With a chance to respond in their half of the inning, UW-RF was able to get some things going with their bats.
Senior Rebecca Daley hit a lead off single to start things up, then Natalie Bosch was able to advance Daley after grounding out. Daley was able to steal third to put her in prime position for clean up batter Tayler Fall. Fall singled to center field to bring Daley home to cut the lead to one. That run would ultimately prove to be the only one the Falcons would find on the day.
With another big inning late, the Pointers were able to take game two by a score of 9-1 despite being out-hit by UWRF 12-11.
After the two losses, the Falcons see their record go to 10-14 on the season and 6-10 in the WIAC. On Sunday, May 2nd the Falcons will be traveling to UW-SP for a rematch with the Pointers.
