The Falcons of UW-River Falls traveled to UW-Stout to take on the Blue Devils for their last regular season road trip of the 2021 season.
Game 1
Game one started off hot for the Blue Devils as they put three runs on the board quickly in the first inning.
The Falcons tried to mount their comeback starting in the 3rd inning, but after putting two runners on, they ultimately stranded them both.
Going into the bottom of the 3rd, the Blue Devils were able to yet again put another two runs across the plate, then added one more in the bottom of the 5th to bring the score to 6-0.
The Falcons were able to add two runs in the 6th inning thanks to RBIs by Johanna Breyen and Lindsey Strom, but that was all UW-RF was able to muster up as they fell by a score of 6-2.
Game 2
In game two, the Falcons defense held steady while the Blue Devils struggled on that side of the field, recorded four errors before things were all said and done.
UW-Stout was able to quickly put a run across in the 1st inning, but that would be the first and last run they would manage to score in the game.
In the top of the 4th, the Falcons were able to put the ball in play starting with Keegan Piton hitting a single to center field. Chapin Rappaport was close behind with a single to right which advanced Piton.
Allison Kondzela then put a ball in play, but a fielding error by the Blue Devils advanced all runners.
Now up to the plate, the dangerous hitting Strom once again picked up an RBI, bringing Piton in to score and tie the game up at 1-1.
The Falcons were able to continue their solid play on the defensive side of the field until they found their opportunity to strike again offensively in the top of the 7th.
Leading off for the Falcons, Strom was able to get on first and then had Bailee Aisenbrey come in to pinch run for her. After stealing second, Aisenbrey advanced after a Sammie Harms single. Aisenbrey was able to continue to home on an error to put UW-RF up 2-1.
The Falcons kept the ball rolling having Harms advance to second. Bryen was then able to single and advance to second and, in turn, advancing Harms to third. On a ground out, Daley was able to pick up an RBI, bringing Harms in to score bringing the final score to 3-1
Maggie Wallin was able to pickup her first win in the circle bringing her record to 1-1 on the season.
With the split on the day, the Falcons bring their record to 11-15 on the season. Their next game will be their last of the regular season at home as they take on UW-Whitewater on Saturday, May 8th. Game one is set to start at 2pm.
