RIVER FALLS, Wis. - The UW-River Falls football team opens its 2021 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schedule this Saturday, Oct. 2, hosting No. 20-ranked UW-La Crosse during homecoming.

THE SERIES
- Saturday's matchup will mark the 104th all-time matchup between UW-River Falls and UW-La Crosse, with the Eagles holding a 64-32-7 series advantage.
- Most recently, the Falcons and Eagles met in 2019, with UWL prevailing 63-49 in River Falls.
- Quarterback Ben Beckman broke a pair of UWRF single-game records, completing 40 passes for 493 yards.
- Wide receiver Alex Herink also broke a Falcon football record with 266 receiving yards.
- In the last ten games between the two schools, UW-La Crosse owns a 7-3 advantage. Five of those contests were decided in overtime.
- The last UWRF victory over the Eagles was in 2014, a 16-13 UWRF overtime win, led by three field goals from Ryan Kusilek.

The Falcons wrapped up its 2021 nonconference schedule at the University of Northwestern in St. Paul, Minn., on Sept. 18, defeating the Eagles 71-13. UWRF's 71 points were a school single-game scoring record, while the 732 yards of total offense was the most since a 788-yard output during the 2000 season versus UW-Eau Claire.

- The Falcons' 3-0 start to the season is the best since 1996, a season in which UWRF tied a program record with nine wins.
- UWRF's average of 55 points per game and 23 touchdowns leads the WIAC.
- Defensively, the Falcons have limited opponents to 52.7 rushing yards per game, which leads the conference.
- Place kicker Cade Henry (So., Yorkville, Ill.) is 21-for-22 on PAT attempts, leading the WIAC.
- Running back Luke Fugate (Sr., Plattevile, Wis) leads the Falcons with 325 rushing yards with four touchdowns. His 108.3 rushing yards per game ranks third in the WIAC.
- Starting quarterback Kole Hinrichsen (Sr., Farmington, Minn.) is tied for the league-lead with nine passing touchdowns.
- Andy Groebner (Jr., Andover, Minn.) has led the UWRF receiving core with nine catches for 212 yards. His five receiving touchdowns is tied for the WIAC lead.
- Defensive lineman Isaiah Karels (Fr., Waverly, Minn.) leads the conference with four sacks.
- Defensive backs Dylan Brown (Fr., Mequon, Wis.) and Calvin Rosen (Jr., Clear Lake, Wis.) rank first and second, respectively, in the WIAC with six and four pass breakups.
