Game Recap: Men's Hockey |

Oles down Falcons, 4-2

RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-River Falls men's hockey team dropped a non-conference contest versus St. Olaf College Friday evening at Hunt Arena, falling 4-2.

After a strong first period, the Falcons conceded three unanswered Ole goals, including a pair of power play tallies.

St. Olaf opened the game's scoring at 9:30 of the first period, and UWRF answered with goals from Gibb Coady and Noah Roofe. The pair has combined for nine points in the last two games.

Coady's third goal of the season was assisted by Alex Davis and Caleb Anderson, in which he snuck out of the corner and surprised St. Olaf netminder Lukas Haugen, tying the game 11 minutes into the night.

Roofe scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season minutes later off a nice pass from linemate Valentino Passarelli, and the Falcons took a 2-1 lead into the second period. UWRF outshot St. Olaf 14-8 in the first period.

The Oles scored early in the middle frame on the power play, their first of two on the night. Shots were even at 18-18 remaining 40 minutes while the Oles scored two power play goals and added another near the midway point of the third period to secure a two-goal cushion.

UWRF made a push late, pulling goaltender Dysen Skinner for the extra attacker with a minute and a half remaining, but couldn't push any more across.

Skinner made 22 saves and suffered the loss, moving his record to 7-3 on the season.

The Falcons, now 9-6-1 overall, have another non-conference game tomorrow night at home against Saint Mary's University.
