Falcons rally to defeat No. 13 Pointers, 3-2

RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-River Falls men's hockey team erased a 2-1 deficit with a pair of third-period goals to defeat No. 13-ranked UW-Stevens Point 3-2 Friday evening at Hunt Arena.

The Falcons, now 10-7-1 overall, improve to 6-2 in the WIAC to share the conference standings lead with the Pointers, each with 17 league points.

After Valentino Passarelli deflected a Josh Martin shot from the point for his fourth goal of the season, UWRF took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

UWSP out-shot the Falcons 12-3 in the second period and scored twice within a few minutes late in the period to claim a one-goal advantage heading into the final 20 minutes.

With around 8:00 left in the third period, Cory Schillo took an outlet pass from Noah Ganske and finished past pointer netminder Ryan Wagner on the backhand. Originally called off, it stood as his third goal on the year after an official review with the goal judge.

Not long after Schillo's game-tying goal, UWSP's Brandon McReynolds crashed into Dysen Skinner and was called for goaltender interference. Noah Roofe and the Falcons then converted on the power play, sniping his team-leading seventh goal of the season.

Skinner was stellar in net for the home team, logging a career-high 40 saves. Cayden Cahill had three assists while Ganske added a pair.

The Falcons and Pointers play again tomorrow night at Hunt Arena.
