RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-River Falls men's basketball team fell 100-83 Wednesday evening versus UW-Stout at Page Arena.
With the loss, the Falcons fall to 9-8 overall and 2-6 in the WIAC while the Blue Devils improve to 13-6 and 4-4 in the WIAC.
UW-Stout was on fire from beyond the arc, shooting 14-of-25 from beyond the arc, while five Blue Devils scored in double figures, led by Armani Tinsley's 6-of-8 mark from three-point range.
Despite the Falcons' strong shooting numbers of 52.5 percent from the field, they struggled to slow down the Blue Devil offense, conceding a season-high 100 points.
Stout got off to a strong start, earning an 11-5 lead four minutes into the game, but the home team responded and knotted the score at 17-17 near the midway point of the half with a
Regan Merritt triple.
The lead changed four times in the first half, and Stout outscored the Falcons 8-6 in the final two minutes to lead 48-39 at halftime.
Noah Hanson opened the second half with three-straight baskets, two in a row from beyond the arc, cutting the Blue Devil lead to 48-47. It didn't concern the Blue Devils, however, as they maintained their lead throughout regulation.
Hanson led UWRF with 25 points and nine rebounds, followed by 20 from
Rodrick Payne. Merritt added 14 points off the bench and
Bryce Phillips notched four assists.
Up next, the Falcons face UW-Eau Claire on the road, next Wednesday, Feb. 2.
