BLAINE, Minn. – The UW-River Falls men's hockey dropped a non-conference game at Bethel University Saturday evening, falling 5-1 against the Royals.
UWRF, now 8-5-1 overall, held a 36-25 advantage in shots on goal, but only converted once past Royal goaltender Travis Allen.
After a 2-1 deficit after the first 20 minutes, the Falcons conceded four unanswered Bethel goals, allowing a season-high five goals against.
Senior forward
Dayton Honkanen scored the Falcons' lone goal, the first of his career. It tied the game at one apiece 12:41 into the first period, assisted by
Gabe Wahl and
Jack Kilroy.
Bethel's game-winner came on the power play, late in the first period, before they put the game out of reach in the ensuing periods.
Dean Buchholz suffered the loss in net while collecting 20 saves.
The Falcons head back into WIAC play on Tuesday, Jan. 11, hosting UW-Stout.
