RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-River Falls women's soccer team saw its' 11 game unbeaten streak come to an end with a 1-0 loss against UW-Whitewater during the WIAC opener and UWRF Homecoming on Saturday, Oct. 1 at Ramer Soccer Stadium.
UWRF's 9-0-2 start to the season is the best in program history, and the Falcons hadn't given up a goal in five games before the Warhawks' leading scorer Allie Prigge broke UWRF's shutout streak at the 74th minute of the game, which stood as the eventual game-winner.
Neither team found the back of the net in the first half, tallying one save each while UWW led in shots, 9-3.
The Falcons were limited to five shots total, one on target, in 90 minutes. The Warhawks also led 5-2 in corner kick opportunities, and a physical and competitive match led to 19 total fouls.
Alayna Westerman led UWRF with two shots, while
Kaylie Krueger notched two saves while suffering her first loss of the season, moving her record to 3-1-2.
The Falcons, now 9-1-2 overall and 0-1 in the WIAC, continue conference action at No. 18-ranked UW-La Crosse next Wednesday, Oct. 5.
