DULUTH, Minn. – The UW-River Falls women's soccer team tied the College of St. Scholastica 1-1 Wednesday afternoon in a nonconference contest.
The Falcons' overall record moves to 9-3-3 on the season with a draw.
The NCAA rules committee approved changes for the 2022 season regarding overtime. For the regular season, overtime has been eliminated. The two teams however did compete in a shootout for the program's traveling trophy - the 'Border Battle Chalice' in which UWRF prevailed.
Shelby Hewitt opened the game's scoring just before the end of the first half, scoring her second of the season at the 42nd minute, and the Falcons led 1-0 at the half.
In the second half, the Falcons outshot the Saints 5-3, but the home team tied the match at 1-1 early into the final 45 minutes, where the score stood as final.
Grace Zellmer made the start in net and made one save, as her record moves to 4-1-1 on the season.
UWRF returns to WIAC action this Saturday at home, hosting UW-Stevens Point.
