PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The No. 14-ranked UW-River Falls football team suffered its first WIAC loss of the season on Saturday, falling 21-14 at UW-Platteville.
The Pioneers held the Falcons to a season-low 333 yards of total offense, limited to 127 through the air despite 206 rushing yards. UWRF led UWP 22-19 in first downs and totaled more yards of offense, but were held back by a 6-for-20 conversion rate on third downs.
Kaleb Blaha gave the Falcons their first and only lead of the contest, rushing in his eighth touchdown of the season in the first quarter, and UWRF led 7-0 heading into the second frame.
Platteville scored twice in the second to lead at the break and gained a three-score advantage after the third.
Trailing 21-7, UWRF scored on its first drive of the fourth quarter,
Jager Reissmann's first of the season from Blaha. However, the Pioneers shut down the Falcons on their next two drives to secure the win.
Blaha completed 16-of-29 passes with 128 rushing yards, throwing one interception.
Aaron Borgerding led the defense with a career-high 15 tackles.
Frank Hartman had a pair of tackles for loss and combined for one sack.
UWRF (4-2, 2-1 WIAC) returns to River Falls to host UW-Eau Claire next Saturday.
