RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-River Falls women's soccer team fell 4-2 Wednesday afternoon against UW-Stout at Ramer Soccer Stadium.
Tied 1-1 after one half, UWRF opened the second period a good amount of chances, including six corner kicks. The visiting Blue Devils however scored a pair of goals within minutes of each other at the 76th and 79th minute to gain a 3-1 lead and steal the momentum.
Kassidy Mackie scored her fifth of the season at the 85th minute, burying a loose ball upon a corner kick, but Stout scored again a couple minutes later to regain a two-goal lead, enough to win.
Lauren Best scored her fourth of the season late in the first half, a great individual effort and shot just inside the 18-yard line.
UW-Stout led 27-11 in shots, and 12-6 in shots on goals.
Grace Zellmer made her eighth start of the year in net and tallied a season-high eight saves while suffering the loss, moving her record to 4-2-1.
UWRF, now 9-4-4 overall and 0-4-1 in the WIAC, returns to action on Saturday at UW-Eau Claire.
