UWRF was slotted at No. 5 in the USCHO Division III Women's Hockey Preseason Poll, garnering 221 points.
The Falcons were picked to finish first in the WIAC Preseason Poll, as voted on by the league's head coaches and sports information directors.
UWRF posted its conference-best eighth first-place finish last season and won the WIAC Tournament (O'Brien Cup) for the seventh time. UWRF's 27 victories a season ago established a program record and the Falcons received a NCAA bid for the 13th time in program archives. UW-River Falls also put together a conference-best 20-game winning streak. The Falcons bring back four All-WIAC first team honorees from last season, including Abigail Stow, who is a four-time All-WIAC first team performer.

FALCON NOTES

The Falcons are coming off a program-record 27 wins last season, reaching the NCAA Tournament for the 13th time in program history.
UWRF was the 2021-22 NCAA Division III statistical champions with an average of 5.7 goals per game along with a .356 power-play percentage.
UWRF tied with Plattsburgh State with the most All-Americans in 2021-22, totaling four each. Callie Hoff '22 and Abigail Stow represented UWRF on the First Team, while Sami Miller and Kora Torkelson '22 were selected to the Second Team.
While the Falcons lost its leading scorer, Callie Hoff, the 2022 AHCA Player of the Year, UWRF returns over half of its scoring contributors from last season, including the trio of Abigail Stow, Alex Hantge, and Maddie McCollins, who combined for 115 points.
Three-time All-WIAC goaltender Sami Miller returns to UWRF for a fifth season. She tied for the second-most shutouts nationally with eight last season.
