Falcons and WashU set for a rematch in second annual Culver's Isthmus Bowl

MADISON, Wis. – The No. 24-ranked University of Wisconsin-River Falls football team has been selected to participate in the second annual Culver's Isthmus Bowl, set to face Washington-University St. Louis on Saturday, Nov. 19, at the Bank of Sun Prairie Stadium in Sun Prairie, Wis.

The bowl game features the top two teams from the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) and the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) that did not make the NCAA Playoffs. The Falcons (6-4, 4-3 WIAC) and Bears (8-2, 7-2 CCIW) each finished third in their respective league's standings.

Last year's Isthmus Bowl marked the first postseason college bowl game in Wisconsin state history and the first bowl game in UW-River Falls football program history. The Falcons defeated WashU by a score of 48-27 in Verona, Wis., tying an NCAA Division III single-game record with 44 first downs, matching the University of Massachusetts-Maritime total from 2013. The Falcons finished the 2021 season with a 9-2 overall record, tying the program record for wins in a season, the most since 1996.

UWRF is coming off a 35-34 thrilling victory over UW-Stout during the regular season finale yesterday in River Falls as the Falcons finished the year undefeated (5-0) at Ramer Field.
