RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The UW-River Falls men's hockey team fell 6-3 Saturday night to UW-Stout at Hunt Arena, settling for the weekend split versus the Blue Devils.
UWRF dips to 4-8 overall and 1-5 in the WIAC.
After the Falcons'
Jack Kilroy scored the game's opening goal nine minutes into regulation, the visitors responded with five-straight goals, headlined by a hat-trick from Maksis Brimanis to earn a 5-1 lead near the midway point of the second period.
Mike Gelatt scored his first two goals as a Falcon to cut the Stout lead to 5-3, but it was too little too late as the Blue Devils scored an empty-netter to go up 6-3 with over two minutes left.
Dysen Skinner started in net for the Falcons and allowed four goals before being relieved by
Dean Buchholz. They both tallied 15 saves.
UW-Stout went 1-for-1 on the power play and held the Falcons scoreless on four power play opportunities. Stout led 36-28 in shots on goal.
The Falcons have the rest of December off before returning to action on Jan. 3, 2023, traveling to face UW-Stout again in the WIAC series finale against the Blue Devils.
