RIVER FALLS, Wis. - The UW-River Falls men's hockey team fell 3-1 Friday evening to UW-Stevens Point at Hunt Arena.
It took the Falcons just 40 seconds to claim a lead as
Noah Roofe finished a centering feed from his linemate
Dylan Smith, scoring his second of the season. UWSP followed with three unanswered goals to earn the win.
UWSP tied the game at the midway point of the first period as the Falcons and Pointers were knotted at 1-1 after the first 20 minutes.
Just under five minutes into the middle frame, the Pointers scored on their second power play chance of the game to earn a 2-1 lead, the eventual game-winner.
The Pointers held the Falcons to 15 shots on goal in the final 20 periods while tallying 29 of their own. The visitors added another insurance goal at 8:18 of the third period.
Each team had four power play looks, with UWSP going 1-for-4 and UWRF going 0-for-4.
Dysen Skinner stood out for the Falcons, collecting a season-high 38 saves and shutting down plenty of Pointer scoring opportunities.
The Falcons (3-6, 0-3 WIAC) hit the road to face Northland College tomorrow night.
