ASHLAND, Wis. - The UW-River Falls men's hockey team fell 4-2 Saturday evening at Northland College.
The Falcons (3-7, 0-4 WIAC) outshot the Lumberjacks 29-20 but found themselves in a 3-1 deficit after two periods and eventually fell despite a third period rally.
Not long after Northland opened the game's scoring late in the first period,
Billy Feczko scored his third of the season to set the score at 1-1 after the first 20 minutes.
The Lumberjacks scored a pair of second period power play goals to claim a 3-1 lead.
Logan Severson scored his goal as a Falcon with help from
Noah Roofe and
Dylan Smith with five minutes left in regulation to put UWRF down by one goal, but the home team scored an empty-net goal with under a minute left to put the game out of reach.
Dysen Skinner made 16 saves while suffering the loss.
UWRF has a WIAC series versus UW-Stout next weekend.
