EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The UW-River Falls men's hockey team fell 2-1 Friday evening at UW-Eau Claire, falling in the overtime period after tying the game with an extra attacker goal.
Down by a goal late in regulation, the Falcons pulled goaltender
Dysen Skinner for the extra attacker, and
Noah Ganske tied up the game with 34 seconds remaining, scoring his seventh goal of the season and his fourth in his last two games, assisted by
Alex Davis and
Vilho Saariluoma.
With Ganske's game-tying goal, the Falcons collected one point in the WIAC standings. UWRF is now 13-10-1 and 9-5-0-1 during WIAC play.
After two scoreless periods, the home team opened the scoring at 12:25 of the first period, with the Blugolds' Simon Sagissor giving UWEC a 1-0 lead before the Falcons rallied. Ty Readman then scored 2:31 into the 3x3 overtime to give Eau Claire the two points in the conference standings.
UWEC held a 22-17 edge on shots on goal, while UWRF led 28-22 in faceoff wins.
The two teams play again tomorrow night at 7 p.m. in Eau Claire.
