RIVER FALLS, Wis. - The No. 4-ranked UW-River Falls women's hockey closes out its regular season with a home and home series this weekend against No. 5-ranked UW-Eau Claire.
The Falcons and Blugolds are the top-two teams in the WIAC standings. UWEC handed UWRF its only loss of the season on Nov. 20, and the Falcons need a pair of wins in regulation to earn a share of the WIAC regular season title.

FOUR SHORTIES BREAKS DIII RECORD
At the College of Saint Benedict last Tuesday, Feb. 8 in St. Cloud, Minn., UWRF scored four shorthanded goals to break an NCAA Division III single-game record. The previous DIII record of three has been set by six teams, most recently by Chatham vs. Lebanon Valley in 2021. One of the shorthanded tallies included a goal from goaltender
Pistol Cowden, who deflected an errant Saint Benedict pass into an empty net for her first career goal.
The 7-3 win also extended the Falcons' win streak to 14 games, and was the eighth consecutive game in which UWRF scored at least five goals.
HOFF TOPS UWRF RECORD BOOK

Callie Hoff has become the UWRF women's hockey all-time goal scoring and points leader this season. At the College of St. Scholastica, Hoff scored her 85th career goal to pass Carly Moran (2014-18), and against Augsburg University on Feb. 1, she recorded her 169th career point to become the Falcons' all-time leading scorer, passing Dani Sibley (2013-17).
Hoff is the Division III national scoring leader this season with 50 points off 20 goals and 30 assists in 19 games played.
STRONG SPECIAL TEAMS
UWRF is the Division III national leader with a .351 power play percentage along with 13 shorthanded goals.
The Falcons have scored 27 power play goals during 77 opportunities, and has scored on the man advantage in eight consecutive games.
