Callie Hoff selected as Laura Hurd Player of the Year

GLOUCESTER, Mass. – The American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) announced Callie Hoff of UW-River Falls, is the 2021-22 recipient of the Laura Hurd Award, presented to the best player at the NCAA Division III level by vote from the nation's head coaches.

The Hurd Award honors the memory of former Elmira College standout Laura Hurd. A 2005 graduate of Elmira, and a four-time All-American, Hurd died in an automobile accident shortly after graduation. She was the recipient of the AHCA Player of the Year Award in 2005.

In addition, she received AHCA First Team West All-America laurels.

Hoff becomes the second ever Falcon to earn the Laura Hurd Award, following Dani Sibley in 2017. This season, Hoff passed Sibley on UWRF's all-time scoring list with her 169th career point during a win over Augsburg University on Feb. 1. She also became the all-time goal scoring leader with her 85th career goal at St. Scholastica on Jan. 26.

The back-to-back WIAC Player of the Year, Hoff recently completed her decorated career with a UWRF single-season record 67 points off 26 goals and 41 assists during her final year as a Falcon. She led UWRF to a program-record 27 wins while the team reached the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals along with the WIAC regular season title and O'Brien Cup Championship.

She currently is the Division III scoring leader this season with her point total of 67, in which she averaged 2.58 per game while scoring six power play goals, five shorthanded, and six game-winners.

A native of Hermantown, Minn., Hoff wraps up her career as a Falcon atop the UWRF record book with 197 points (97g-100a) in 122 games played. She is a 2019 AHCA Second Team All-American and a five-time All-WIAC honoree.
