ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. – The UW-River Falls women's soccer team defeated Crown College 9-0 Thursday afternoon to remain undefeated.
The Falcons, now 6-0-1 overall, had nine different scorers to score the most goals in one game since the 2018 Falcons won 9-0 over Martin Luther College.
UWRF outshot the Polars 21-9, with 12 shots on target. The Falcons also had 15 corner kick opportunities while limiting Crown to just two.
Four goals in the first half and five in the second half led to the 9-0 victory. Two of the nine goals were on penalty kicks.
Haley James,
Lexi Peterson,
Moya Murray, and
Lauren Best gave UWRF a 4-0 lead. In the second half,
Hannah Gagnelius,
Madyson Shew,
Elizabeth DeVecchi,
Elizabeth Felty, and
Shelby Hewitt found the back of the net.
Gagnelius, DeVecchi, Felty, and Hewitt all scored their firsts as a Falcon.
Grace Zellmer made her second start of the season in goal and tallied three saves en route to earning the shutout.
The Falcons return home to host UW-Superior this Saturday, Sept. 17.
